Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Japan discussed bilateral cooperation by phone
On 8 November 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov had a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Takeshi Iwaya.
During the conversation, the sides discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The high level of interstate relations based on a trustful dialogue at the highest political level was underlined. In this regard, the interlocutors noted the importance of joint preparations to the upcoming first Summit “Central Asia + Japan” at the level of heads of state.
The sides emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation between the foreign ministries of two countries. They exchanged views on the agenda of the next inter-MFA consultations to be held in the near future.
The ministers also noted the importance of partnership between the two countries in trade and economic sphere. The Japanese companies express interest in developing cooperation with Turkmenistan, particularly in such areas as green energy, decarbonisation, gas chemistry and others. In this regard, the importance of the work of the joint committees on economic cooperation was emphasized.
In addition, the sides exchanged views on the upcoming events with participation of both countries. They also discussed the prospects of participation of the Turkmen delegation in the World Expo 2025 to take place in Osaka.
